quoteThe Path Elemental Profile (PEP) has made such a dramatic difference in the way I communicate with people, professionally and personally. I first learned about the program about a year and a half ago when the author, Laurie Beth Jones, presented it at a Woman’s Leadership conference. I took to it immediately. My coworker/friend and I stayed up half the night dissecting Jones’ book, The Four Elements of Success, to determine which elements we were and the people closest to us. We fit with our elements like a glove. Ever since that night I’ve been using the “elements” and it helps me communicate with everyone around me. It was such an eye opener to even consider that people talk and think differently than I do. I knew that everyone had their own personality but I never noticed the pattern before, the break down of how and why. Using the 4 elements of Earth, Wind, Water, Fire to break down these differences has made it so simple and user friendly for me. I can tell almost instantly what elemental traits a new person is conveying and then jump right in with corresponding communication traits to complement the way they receive information. It’s not about changing who I am to try to be like them, it’s about understanding who they are so I can most effectively give them my message.

I am an Earth, I like details and accuracy, data, and facts. If I am working with a Wind (high energy, very people oriented and relational) and I walk in and put a 30 page report about all the logical well planned reasons the Wind should sign off on my proposal and walk away, I may as well have put a basket of stones on the desk for all the effect my boring long detailed written report will have on the matter. My better option is to prepare an interactive oral presentation for the Wind to see, hear, feel, be involved in…then I’ll have the attention I need. Not everyone likes facts and details like I do, I never imagined that before. Why wouldn’t you want to know all the details beforehand and reduce all possible risk for a smooth transaction? Because some people need to feel it and be felt by it, some people need to blaze through it themselves, and some people need to know how they will be able to affect the process for the benefit to even matter. Now I know how to recognize these varying methods of communication and how to give people the information they need to make a decision, not necessarily the information I need to make a decision. Revolutionary!

quoteShannell presented The Path Elements Profile at a workshop at my church, and one of the best things about the PEP training session was how short yet effective it was. Shannell moved through the information smoothly and efficiently, and it took no time at all for us to make important connections between information and application. The concepts are simple, and the presentation is direct and straightforward, yet the wisdom Shannell conveys is profound. What she taught us has helped me better relate to and communicate with fellow ministry leaders, my husband and daughter, and my family and friends.

quoteThe Path Element Profile (PEP) has made difference in my relationships with friends and co-workers. My profile is Wind/Water. When I read about all the traits that go along with the elements I was truly amazed how accurate they describe my personality and how I function in all areas of my life. My profile indicates that my strongest Element is WIND, which is people-oriented and fast-paced. I tend to focus my energies on what I can see, feel and touch. I also find myself making decisions based on what other people may say and am willing to try almost anything to see if it will succeed. As a high WIND I like to verbalize my feelings and I liked to talk issues out. I have learned however, that not each element is the same. My best friend is a Double Fire. Fires want the bottom line first, they make flat statements and want to see results. Together, she and I have made adjustments and developed a deep, and intimate friendship. It is better than I thought it could ever be. My boss at work is also a Fire. I have been able to tailor my way of speaking to her so that I present all the important information and give her the bottom line quickly. I find she is able to make a quick, informative decision and I know that is her goal and it is gratifying to me to see her pleased. I have learned not to be offended by her concise way of communicating because I understand how she processes information. I am so blessed to have the tools the PEP™ workshop has equipped me with and I practice using them in my everyday life. I have truly benefited from this life changing material and my relationships at home, in my workplace and my church have all been changed for the better.

quoteComing to understand the different elements and their characteristics has most helped me with my relationships at home. By understanding my wife’s element, which is Fire, these tools have helped me understand the way she reacts to me (a Water) because of the way I communicate with her. I have come to understand that we communicate totally differently not only in the way we say things but also by the words that we use. By learning the elemental make up of an individual I feel this helps me to listen to them, and hear them in their language and respond in a language they will understand.

In the workplace my by boss is also a Fire. So understanding her element helps me to understand the way she communicates to me and how to listen. Because we are so different in our communication styles and tones, I can now listen to what is being said and pay less attention to how she is saying things. This has also taught me that we all have to adapt to other people’s element types and personality, which I have known, but now I am putting it into practice.

quoteAs co-owner and active General Manager of a 10 employee construction company, finding the right personnel is a huge, ongoing challenge. I have personally known Shannell for many years on both a business and personal level so when she approached us with the Path Elements Profile (PEP™) material and explained how this simple, straightforward, assessment could help us transform the efficiency of our workplace and the fulfillment of our people, we signed up.

As a "fusion", (that will only make sense to you after you’ve taken your assessment!) it is clear to me how my God directed gifts and talents allowed me to wear many "hats" during the businesses growth from 1 of us to 10 of us. I can personally do many things and perform on many levels, however there are aspects of my personality that dictate my preferences and tendencies (i.e., I would prefer to interact with people any day over crunching numbers at my desk!).

As we have discovered our natural inclinations, our challenges and learn to work with them (rather than against them), the understanding we have gained towards each other has been invaluable. This new approach to understanding individual, behavioral attributes will also be a key factor in our hiring process in the future.

quoteI highly recommend Shannell McMillan and her presentation of “Discovering Your Path – Pursuit of Purpose” Seminar. This seminar covers the 4 Elements of Success will radically transform your organization from the inside out.

Our staff and church family has learned and discovered the differences between each other and how to practically yet powerfully work together as a cohesive team. The impact has been revolutionary!

Our objective was to be able to gain accurate insights to understanding the dynamics of the human personality. Further, to be able to tap into our God given resources and reach our potential for Him in life and ministry. This seminar has equipped us to be able to understand our self, others, and how to reconcile our differences without compromising our core vales.

Moreover, the seminar is a powerful tool to not only measure but more importantly to enhance our unique gifts and talents. We learned “together” that we all have the same mindset and mission…but we needed to focus more on our pursuit of purpose!

In conclusion, Shannell McMillan’s corporate experience, her professional demeanor, coupled with a great sense of humor brought us all to a new and higher level of commitment to each other, and to the entire church family.

I would be happy to share further benefits to hosting this seminar should you desire. I can be reached at 310.326.4900.
